UCSB’s Theta Tau and IEEE is proud to present
UCSB’s first ever hardware hackathon for the upcoming spring quarter.
What is Wired Hacks?
This spring, IEEE at UCSB and the UCSB colony of Theta Tau will bring UCSB its first ever Hardware Hackathon. At Wired Hacks, we will provide our hackers with hardware and technology like soldering irons and 3D printers that will allow them to build beyond the constraints of their regular computers.
During Wired Hacks, our hackers will use their technical skills combined with our equipment and technology to create tangible products with code and hardware within a single weekend.
We welcome anyone who’s interested in participating in our hackathon. However, we will be prioritizing students who attend the University of California, Santa Barbara because we lack the resources to provide transportation to those who don’t reside in the area.
Don’t worry, there will be tutorials and help to teach you basic hardware.
Just click the application tab above and fill out all your information. You’ll be informed about our invitation decisions a couple weeks before the hackathon.
Well, of course, you can hack solo if you want to, but hacking with friends is much more fun, so we encourage you to find a team either before or during the competition.
Wired Hacks is completely free!!
We recommend bringing a personal computer and charger.
Unfortunately, we are a very new hackathon, so we don’t have the budget to provide transportation to/from the hackathon. We hope all our members will be able to provide their own transportation. If you need information about parking locations, please contact us at wiredhacksucsb@gmail.com
TBA
We don’t have the entire schedule finalized at the moment, but the hackathon will happen approximately Saturday April 21st at 11 AM to Sunday April 22nd at 3 PM.
We will have a table set up where you can check out hardware parts.
